Aw, Magoo, we knew you were overwhelmed at the shelter, but you’re an affectionate good boy under that stressed exterior! This goofy and entertaining 18-pound youngster is looking for an understanding home to help him blossom into a confident companion.
Magoo thrives in the company of other dogs and is happiest with his canine foster siblings. He loves to entertain himself while his foster parent works from home, busying himself with toys, blankets, and dog beds, often rearranging them around the house. He enjoys solo play, tossing and fetching toys for himself, but also loves curling up on a sunny cushion or nearby piece of furniture for a peaceful nap.
He is very attuned and responsive to all beings, including grumpy dogs. Magoo takes correction well, walking away from any behavior that gets a negative response. He loves company and expresses his joy by dancing around, wagging his tail, and offering gentle licks to outstretched hands or feet. If you give him scritches, he’ll melt into your lap, quickly settling down for a nap.
Magoo is mostly housetrained and crate-trained. He shows some initial anxiety when left alone but generally settles down in his crate, which he often chooses to enter when feeling uncertain or just to nap.
This charming pup would thrive in a home with other dogs of any size who are willing to play. Older, gentle, and patient kids or adults who can meet him where he’s at will be essential. He’s an independent guy who can entertain himself with his antics, but he will take time to warm up to humans. A fenced yard is crucial, as he loves to run and sniff around, and he's not progressed to leash walks yet.
Despite his rough start, Magoo is becoming a resilient, joyful, and social dog. Follow his foster journey with @adoptable_magoo_oas on Instagram! Click here to learn how to adopt and submit your adoption questionnaire.
