Lulu and Gizmo are two of the sweetest and smartest little bundles of love you will ever meet! While not biological siblings, these playful and sometimes goofy little dogs are bonded for life. Gizmo is a 11 year old purebred Shih Tzu. Lulu is a 8 year old mixed breed small dog. Sadly their human father passed away and their mother can no longer care for them. Their next home would be one with a routine, an adult who is home most of the day and preferably teen kids or older. Gizmo likes to think he’s in charge - like any Shih Tzu - but Lulu is the real brains of this dynamic duo. They are house-trained, well-mannered and friendly. Lulu was overheard saying “as long as I get to be with my best friend Gizmo, all is right with the world and we are ready to join a new family.” Whether they are playing or sleeping, making funny faces or following you around hoping for snacks, Lulu and Gizmo will have you smiling all day. Gizmo is laid back and chill while Lulu is playful and loves to cuddle with her humans. They are spayed, neutered and up to date on vaccines.
We require adopters to have a safe and secure backyard - not electric or Fido fences as they are not as safe at containing dogs or keeping other animals or people out. For these reasons we do not adopt to homes with electric or Fido fencing.
The adoption fee is $275 for each dog, which includes age appropriate vaccines, microchip, monthly flea, tick and heart worm preventatives at time of adoption.

Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based on Long Island NY. We rescue dogs and puppies who are at risk of being euthanized in high-kill facilities across the South. Every animal we rescue is quarantined where they get vaccinated and given any medical attention needed to get them healthy. We then transport the animals up to NY where they go into our wonderful foster homes until we find them all pre screened loving forever homes. We will adopt out-of-state on a case by case basis, including, but not limited to, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania.
Our goal is to find the best possible homes for our animals, to ensure a life-long loving commitment. We are dedicated to the well-being of our animals. One by One until there are none!
