Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Mel
Help us welcome sweet Mel. This beauty is five years old and we believe her to be a shepherd/hound mix. To meet her is to love her. Mel was on death row before arriving to the safety of our shelter. She is amazing. Mel is calm, gentle, friendly, and quiet. She looks like she’s had a hard go of life from her torn up ear to the sadness in her eyes. But she’s safe now. Mel is medium in size weighing 54 pounds, with pretty markings. She loves people and does great with other dogs. We will cat test her if needed but can’t imagine she wouldn’t be sweet to them.
Mel must have known some love in her past because she is house trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and is extremely calm. Mel will only know kindness and love going forward, fitting for such a gentle girl. She’s one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever met. We love this little pup and know we’ll find the best home for her. We sure hope her stay with us will be a short one. The family who brings her home will be lucky indeed. Mel will be spayed before going home.
If interested in welcoming Mel to your life and family, please submit a dog application found online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website.
Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No Kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
