My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adorable little Sammi is just over 4 mo old, currently weighs about 14lbs and we expect her to be approx 18lbs or so when full grown. She is a very friendly, affectionate girl that is the perfect size for long hiking trips and lots of lap time cuddling. She is wonderful with other dogs, too, so another playful dog in the home would be best. She must have a 5ft or higher securely fenced yard and because she’s still such a young girl, she should not be left alone for more than 4-5hr intervals. She appears to be a miniature pincher chihuahua mix, but we’re not entirely sure. Whatever she is, she is sweet, silly, affectionate, smart as can girl that loves training games, so an experienced person that has plenty of time to continue her training is preferred. Here are some notes from her current foster mom:
“Sammi is a goodwill ambassador! Friendly to all, she loves meeting dogs and all people, including kids. She chases the cat but just wants to play so no cats would be best. She is a curious VERY happy girl and does well as a 'pack' animal. She loves running and playing with her big foster sisters and will take a nap curled up against them. A home with lots of outdoor space and active folks who walk and hike would be ideal. Sammi likes her toys, car rides and water. Maybe there's a little lab in her DNA. She's a great little hiker and loves being out on the trail. She likes her treats and takes them gently. She sleeps thru the night in her crate (with door open) and uses pee pads if needed. We are working on consistency with potty and leash training, and she’s learning very quickly. This girl will bring a world of sunshine to the right home and would do best in a home with another dog. Sammi is an all round WONDERFUL dog! She is a joy.”
She is not quite old enough to be spayed so surgery will be scheduled at the time of adoption. If you would like to meet this very special pup please email fkrokower@msn.com and we will send you our adoption application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Interested adopters should email info@k9rr.org to request an application. Once complete, the application can be returned via email and quickly reviewed. If approved, we then invite potential adopters to visit with one or more of the dogs that interest them. If the meet and greet goes well, we encourage a week long "trial adoption" to ensure a good match. During that week we communicate often and are available for support and guidance, via phone or email, 24/7.

Unless otherwise specified, K9 R&R adoption fees range from $350-$500 and include all vetting and microchip. We also provide ongoing training tips and help as needed, for the life of the dogs.

K9 R&R is a non-profit, volunteer based organization.

More about this rescue

K9 R&R rescues dogs from shelters and other various facilities across the nation, but focusing primarily on those throughout the west coast. In addition, we help re-home family pets of owners who can no longer care for them. K9 R&R assesses and works with every dog prior to adopting them out and continues to provide support to adopters for the entire life of the dog. K9 Rescue & Rehab was founded with the desire to provide a more thorough, inclusive, supportive approach to dog rescue and re-homing. When adopting a K9 R&R dog, you are not only adding a new family member, but are becoming part of an extended family that is always there to support you in hard times and celebrate with you in joyful ones.
