*Already Microchipped, registration completed during adoption

I’m working on my basic training, socializing with other cats, and getting loved on my so many fun humans. I go home with my own goody bag: food, collar with identification tags, toys, bed and oh so much more.

A little bit about me…

Hello new friends I am Grinch and it’s a pleasure to meet you.
My ideal home would be someone that has a set routine as I do not like my routines changed and I may get a bit defensive when they do. A home that is calm and quiet would be preferred and without small children as loud sounds scare me. I am a sweet boy that enjoys getting brushed and getting all of the pets. I also love to play with wand toys.
If I tell you what my boundaries are please respect them as my fight or flight is to defend myself.

My Highlights…

Super sweet once I trust you.
Loves to play with wands.
Loves being brushed.
Requires occasional grooming as my fur matts easily.

My Quirks…
NO DOGS!
NO OTHER CATS!
Please let staff know on how you plan on doing my nails as I am not a fan.
Unsure of people at first.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Please be advised we only adopt to AZ residents. We make a commitment to all of our animals. So while we appreciate your interest, we ask that you be a local resident to adopt. We do not always know the full background of each animal and sometimes personalities are not fully shown until a few days in the home. If for whatever reason you cannot keep the animal, we appreciate the animal being returned to our facility. It is costly and time consuming to return an animal from out of state. Please check your local animal shelter to find a forever friend near your area.
We do have adoption fees that are reflective to our adoptable cats and dogs. They will slightly vary depending on the cat or dog. However most of the adoptable pets have the same adoptable fee. We ask that any prospective adopter to come to our location and complete an adoption application. This will be reviewed by a qualified adoption counselor who will sit and visit to interview the adopter on what they are looking for to place the adoptable pet in a forever home. Once approved for adoption, there is paperwork to complete and the adoptable cat or dog will be able to go home that day

More about this shelter

Sun Valley Animal Shelter, Inc., is an Arizona nonprofit corporation with 501(c)3 status which operates a No-Kill shelter in Glendale, Arizona, generally serving the western portion of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The organization was founded in 1991 by a group of Sun City area residents as a foster-based program to provide adoption opportunities for homeless and abandoned dogs and cats. The current facility was built in 1995 and can house 100+ dogs and 100+ cats. The organization receives no government funding and is supported by income from our thrift store profits, adoption fees, membership dues, donations and bequests. We recently received a grant to assist in the construction of a new medical/surgical center at the facility.

The animals taken into our care are housed in a clean, secure environment and are spayed/neutered, microchipped, given all necessary shots and a physical exam. Dedicated volunteers are invaluable in assisting with the daily care and nurturing of our dogs and cats prior to finding a loving home. We are proud to note that in the last several years we have increased adoptions from approximately 300 animals per year to over 1000 animals per year.
