My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nimbus is a sweet and silly kitten who is guaranteed to melt your heart! Nimbus got her name because she looked like a fluffy white cloud as a very young kitten, but her black, brown and light orange markings seem to become more prominent every day, including the adorable exclamation point on her face. Combined with her bright blue eyes, she is a serious stunner! Nimbus is a confident, adventurous little girl who loves to explore, play and engage with cats and humans alike. She loves to wrestle, chase and be chased by her adult and kitten foster brothers, until she is so tired that she turns into a total cuddlebug. When she's ready for a break, Nimbus loves to cozy up on a lap, chest or tucked behind the couch cushions for a nap. Nimbus adores face and ear scratches and massages, and makes the cutest smiley face when being pet to her liking. She will playfully nibble and lick your fingers, face and hair if you give her the opportunity. Almost anything is a toy to Nimbus, as she finds equal joy in string toys, mice, balled up paper and tinfoil, scratchers and even the teaspoon used to serve her food. She is an enthusiastic eater who prefers wet food to dry, and is a big fan of the water fountain at her foster home. When not zooming around the house, Nimbus can often be found on the highest level of the cat tree, and would love a home that provides her plenty of opportunities to climb and explore. Nimbus hasn't had the opportunity to meet any dogs or children, but she is so confident and brave that she'd likely do well. Nimbus would thrive in a home with other cats open to playing with her, or would love to be adopted alongside another cat or kitten from Contra Costa Humane Society!

Additional adoption info

CCHS has animals available for adoption through a number of different avenues. Many of our kittens and all dogs are cared for in loving foster homes until they are adopted. Teenage, adult, senior and special-needs cats reside at Kitty Corner, an on-site, private cat shelter where cats are allowed to free-roam at all times, lounge in sunny windows and on comfy cat towers, and play to their heart's galore. Similarly, we also have animals available for adoption through our Re-Homing Assistance Program, where we help to advertise animals that caregivers are no longer able to keep.

If you are interested in meeting any of the animals listed on our website, please complete an adoption application unless otherwise noted!

Adoption fees are:
Kittens under 6mo: $130 ($200 for two)
Cats over 6mo: $90 ($150 for two)
Puppies under 6mo: $225
Dogs over 6mo: $175

Our business office and Kitty Corner are located at 3341 Vincent Road.

Kitty Corner houses adult, senior, and special-needs cats (sometimes teenage kittens). Kitty Corner is open for adoptions by appointment only with an approved application. Please submit an application for a cat you are interested in at www.cchumane.org/adoptable-cats.

All of our dogs, puppies and some kittens are located off-site in foster homes and can be met by appointment once adoption applications have been received and approved.
