Meet Sam!
Sam is a 5 year old male Formosan Mountain dog. His previous 4 years were spent with his owner and a small chihuahua so he is good with dogs and perhaps cats.
Sam primarily spent time inside his owner’s fenced yard, and he rarely went on leashed walks or had car rides. His life with his foster dog brother has been different. He is leashed and taken outside multiple times a day and has become accustomed to and gets excited for his 2 mile daily walk with his foster dog brother. He is learning to walk on the sidewalk and in a straight line, and not pull the leash, but everyday he improves.
Sam is willing to jump into the car for car rides to the vet or park, but once inside the car he is unsure what to do. He will eventually lay down but he does love to put his head out the window. He has dermatitis, but is on special food and dog shampoo which controls his symptoms well.
Sam is shy meeting new people, and tends to back away from them unless his foster dog brother shows him they are good to approach. Sam whines when he sees other dogs when out on walks as he is curious to meet them. When he does meet other dogs, he is passive and polite, he is not aggressive.
Sam does not jump up on people, he loves to lay near you and sometimes likes to follow you from room to room. Sam is loving to his foster family and loves attention. He will nudge you if you stop rubbing his head. Sam knows his commands, he does not jump up on people or counters. Sam has a deep warning bark when he hears noises outside the home, but he is a gentle calm dog that wants to be near his people.
Sam has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and now is just ready to be loved! His adoption fee is $395.
We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495. Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
