My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!  My name is Lance (short for Lancelot 'cause my foster mom says I'm super handsome!) and I am looking for a forever home.  My previous owners took me to a really scary place called a shelter saying they didn't want me no more 'cause I chased chickens.  Unfortunately, as an owner surrender I heard I ended up on something really bad called "the list" and that bad thing was going to happen on Friday.  But then fortunately for me, I came to the attention of BCAA on Thursday and they said they would help me find a home without chickens ... yeah!  I am a yellow lab mix, about a year old and I weigh a little over 60lbs.  I am a little shy when I first meet new people, but it doesn't take me long to learn I can trust you and then in typical lab fasion, I will become your best friend!  I  was not raised with other dogs and I get all excited when I see them and am slowly learning how to meet and play.   My foster mom is still evaluating me with cats as the ones she has are pretty dog savvy and don't run from dogs and so far I've been ignoring them.  I adore getting attention and just want to belong to my own family.  I love my food and treats which will be really good in training, that along with my intense desire to please.  I've done really well in my crate without any accidents, barking or tearing up of bedding although I would really prefer to be out with you.  I've done good on leash with minimal pulling when I see something really interesting I want to check out.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.

Submit Application

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
