My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Zara was brought in by her previous owner.

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for her new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Zara! 🌟

This delightful girl is a radiant ball of love and energy! Zara is always ready for cuddles, long walks, and playful escapades. She has a sweet spot for treats and loves to climb into your lap for some extra affection. Zara is a social butterfly, enjoying the company of people and larger dogs, though she might not be the best fit for homes with small dogs.

If Zara is going to share her home with another dog, a consult with a behavior trainer can help make the transition a breeze. Zara thrives in an active environment where she can run and explore to her heart's content. Her loyal and loving nature makes her the perfect companion for someone ready for joy and adventure.

Come visit Zara and see if you're ready for the happiness she'll bring to your life!

AT BEHAVIOR CENTER: This animal is receiving a little extra support from specialized Caregivers and an assigned Trainer. To begin the adoption process and trainer-facilitated interaction, please reach out to us directly at sdcadoptions@sdhumane.org and provide a good callback number.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
