My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Denver, a lively and affectionate one-year-old Lab Shepherd mix who is ready to find his forever home! This handsome boy was discovered as a stray, and despite his rough start, he has a heart full of love and joy. Denver's energetic spirit is contagious; he thrives on playtime and adventure, making him the perfect companion for active families or individuals who enjoy an active lifestyle.

Denver is sociable and gets along wonderfully with other energetic dogs, making him a great addition to a multi-pet household. His playful antics will keep you entertained and bring smiles to your face. While he's a bundle of fun, Denver is still learning his manners and would benefit from some basic training. This will help him channel his energy in a positive way and build a strong bond with his new family.

Although he doesn't walk perfectly on a leash just yet, Denver is eager to learn and is highly motivated by treats and praise. With consistent training, he'll soon be a pro at strolls around the neighborhood.

Denver's cheerful demeanor and happy-go-lucky attitude are sure to brighten your days. If you're looking for a loyal companion to join you on outdoor adventures, play sessions, and cozy evenings at home, Denver is the dog for you. Come meet this charming pup and see if he's the perfect match for your family!

I AM AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, BUT CURRENTLY AT JEFF CITY CORRECTIONAL CENTER IN THE PUPPIES FOR PAROLE PROGRAM. I WILL BE DONE WITH MY TRAINING JANUARY 23, 2025. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ME, PLEASE DO AN APPLICATION AT DASLAKEOFTHEOZARKS.COM.

More about this shelter

Dogwood Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill shelter.

Since its infancy, compassionate, like-minded volunteers have been the driving force behind Dogwood Animal Shelter. Through auctions and sales, a handful of dedicated people raised enough money to build its first, albeit small facility and was established as a 501(c) 3 in 1976. It was filled beyond capacity almost immediately.

The shelter is funded entirely from donations and proceeds from their Dogwood Animal Shelter Thrift Store.

After years of saving, planning and busting at the seams with fur-babies, in 2005 it was time to build a new facility with their own in-house clinic! Under the direction of Dr. John Reinhold and coupled with a very dedicated and gifted team of Veterinarians and staff, Dogwood Animal Shelter continues to offer low cost spays and neuters to the public as well as services to their shelter buddies; services to approximately 2,000 dogs and cats yearly!

Dogwood Animal Shelter began their journey of being a successful no-kill shelter in 1997, and since then has saved over 40,000 lives!
