My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐶 Meet Lily 🐶
Meet Lily, an 8-year-old black lab mix who will steal your heart in an instant! Don’t let her white muzzle fool you—Lily is full of energy and absolutely loves going for long walks. She came to Safe Haven after her family’s landlord no longer allowed pets, but she’s ready for a fresh start in a loving home.
Lily has already shown what a strong and resilient girl she is, bravely completing heartworm treatment and coming out of it like a champ. Now, she's eager to find her forever family, and anyone who meets her will quickly see what a gem she is.
This sweet girl is wonderful with people, cats, and dogs of all sizes. She has a zest for life, loving walks, car rides, trips to stores, and, most of all, cuddling. Lily is one of the most affectionate dogs you'll ever meet—she loves to rest her head on your shoulder, making you feel like you're her whole world.
Lily already knows "sit" and is learning "down" and "stay." While she gets excited on leash and might pull a bit when she sees squirrels or rabbits, she's improving every week. Her eagerness to please makes training a breeze, and she’s been doing so well without needing treats!
Lily would thrive in any home, especially with a family that has lots of time to spend with her. She’s a Velcro dog who loves being close to her people. She’s also well-behaved when left out of a crate and hasn’t had any issues.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and lively companion, Lily is your girl!

More about this rescue

We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.

The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.

Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.

While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.

We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
