My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Bean!  I’m the littlest of 3 cattens who were originally brought in for TNR.  When one of my helpers first met me, I was all big-eyed, and spider-monkeying all over my kennel.  But she had a feeling about me, so she started talking to me and then reached in to pet me once I calmed down a little and…… I melted!  I immediately decided I loved pets, and if I wasn’t getting pets, I would yell until she came over to give me more.  She fell in love with my satellite dish ears that I haven’t quite grown into, and my big beautiful eyes, and we agreed that I am ready to be an indoor family girl.  I also have the most adorable little meow, and I will have conversations back and forth with you!  Ask me anything, I’ll answer you!

I really like other cats, and I will do best in a home with a kitty friend that can play with me and keep me company when my people are out.  I haven’t been around dogs or kids as far as I know.  I think I would be okay with older, calm kids who are gentle with me.  I’ll do best in a calm home with a family who can understand that it will take me time to get comfortable in new surroundings with new people.

I can be a bit picky about my food.  I definitely do NOT like pate wet food.  I’m a big fan of gravy-based wet food or pureed wet food; so far my favorite has been Weruva chicken and pumpkin kitten food.  I also like Iams dry kitten food.  I enjoy Churu treats and Temptations treats, too!

I REALLY like to play, and I love my ball track toy, toy mice and wand toys for interactive play.  I also like cat trees to play and run around in.  I recently discovered that I like playing peekaboo with one of my helpers in the cat tree—it makes my eyes get all big and it’s sooooo exciting!  I’ve enjoyed my big fluffy bed for naps.  I hope you’ll come and meet this cute lil Bean, and maybe make me a part of your family!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We have an adoption application to learn a bit about the home our cats will be going to and the family's motivation for adoption and expectations about pet ownership. We also have an adoption contract, which includes a no declawing and indoor-only clause along with a vet promissory note that ensures you will continue with the medical care and spay/neuter if needed.

We DO NOT do any out of state adoptions except on the NC border on a case-by-case basis.

We require a donation of $120 for adoption of unaltered kittens with a PTV Contract. All kittens receive vaccine series and wormings as well as medical treatment as needed. The adopter is responsible for obtaining their rabies vaccine and spay/neuter if the kitten is not of age at the time of adoption. We can provide resources for low cost clinics that offer these services.

We ask a donation of $25 to adopt Career/barn cats.

We require a donation of at least $140 for adoption of Spayed/neutered cat.

Bonded pairs adoption donation is $200.

Sometimes we require rental checks or home inspections. We always have a Meet n Greet to make sure everyone gets along. We encourage bringing the whole family!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to improve the lives of displaced cats and reduce feral cat population in Hampton Roads by socializing outdoor-born and feral kittens for adoption into loving forever homes. We are a VDACS registered 501c3 nonprofit, founded in 2014 with over 60 foster homes.

Our heart is in TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return of ferals), where cats are fixed, vaccinated, ear tipped, and allowed to live out their lives without reproducing. We are advocates for advancing legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads. Our unique feral kitten socialization program has a 90% success rate in socializing feral-born kittens to become loving, in-home pets.

We are always seeking fosters, volunteers, transporters, and trappers to join our team!
