Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Looking for an adventure buddy? Then Badger is looking for you!
This dude is always game for literally anything you want to do. Want to go on a hike for miles and miles? Sign him up! Want to go on a car ride and just drive around for a while? He’s down! Want to teach fun tricks? This dog can learn them all!
This goofball is about 2 years old and is so ready to love a family of his own, he just needs one that can keep up with his high energy. But once he’s had his exercise, he’s the biggest cuddler you could ever imagine!
What breed of dog he is exactly is a bit of a mystery, he was originally purchased as a Cane Corso (doubtful) and our best guess is that he’s a Pit/Staffy combo with something else, maybe husky, thrown in there too, but honestly, your guess is just as good! The first family he was with didn’t appreciate his energy and kept him crated for most of the day so he never learned manners or how to manage his energy. When he became too much for them to handle, they surrendered him to the local dog warden, where he was kept in a kennel run, which was bigger, but still not ideal for his energy. While he was there, he became very anxious and that led to him being very mouthy whenever he was around people, constantly grabbing the leash he was on. Because of his high energy and anxiety, it was decided that he wasn’t a candidate for adoption from the warden and they instead reached out to us. And we are so glad they did, because this dog is a GOOD dog.
Badger went to what we lovingly call training boot camp with a trainer we have worked with many times before and he came back fully trained and having amazing manners. He does still get very excited and needs a family that will be able to remind him about those manners, but once he’s reminded he goes right back to being perfection.
No young kids for Badger because of how rambunctious he can get with someone who doesn’t enforce his boundaries, but he does ADORE kids and would do amazingly with an active family with older kids.
He’s done well meeting other dogs while he’s been with us, but he can be a bit of a loudmouth when he plays, which can be overwhelming for other dogs, so he may require multiple meetings if you have another dog.
Badger is fully housebroken, crate trained, loves car rides, walks well on the leash, and honestly we could just keep going about how cool this dog is, but it’s probably best for you to just come meet him and see for yourself! He is neutered, microchipped and fully up to date on his vaccinations. We typically ask for an adoption donation of $250 for our dogs, but since Badger is in our Underdog Program, we aren’t asking for any donation at all, we’re just asking for a family that loves him and gives him the best home possible!
If you are interested in adopting Badger, you can fill out an adoption application for him on our website, waywardranch.org, or reach out if you have any questions about him!

More about this rescue
Our Mission: To provide a quality life to the animals that need it most.
Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary, Inc. is a 501c3, tax exempt non-profit organization and all donations to our sanctuary are tax deductible.
The Dream:
Wayward Ranch was founded by three friends who, after working for other rescues for a long time, realized there was something missing from the average rescue model. No animal is perfect, and in the typical shelter system any behavioral concerns an animal had coming in are just exacerbated the longer they are kenneled or caged waiting for a home.
Many local shelters have taken to shipping puppies up from the south because they are more “adoptable” than the shelter animals we have here. However, this just floods are market and takes homes and resources from our local animals who are suffering as a result.
We are committed to a different type of rescue experience. We are a unique combination of adoption and sanctuary facility, taking the pressure of euthanasia away from animals who may not be generically adoptable. We also help our animals thrive, rather than deteriorate, as they wait for forever homes using a combination of enrichment and training techniques.
