My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Miss Spice Bucket originally came to CVHS after being found as a stray, in need of help. Due to her condition and age, Spice Bucket needed to go to a foster home until she was ready to be adopted. While she was in her foster home, she was exposed to felines and canines that range from young to old, and she has done great with them, but does prefer her feline friends over the canine ones. Spice Bucket has never been exposed to children, but would probably prefer a home without children due to her shy personality.

While in foster care, Spice Bucket got plenty of important handling, such as having her paws touched/massaged, and getting her nails trimmed. She wasn't the biggest fan of that, often trying to wiggle her way out of it (but got better each time). She loves to get her belly rubbed, and will usually ask for this by rolling on her back while making biscuits in the air. Spice Bucket isn't the biggest fan of being picked up (will wiggle to be let down) unless it's on her terms. You'll know when she wants to be picked up, by her hugging your leg, looking up at you, and quietly meowing (she most often did this while her foster mom was trying to get ready for the work day)! Spice Bucket's play style is gentle, so will need a human or furry companion who isn't too rough when it comes to playing.

Spice bucket is looking for a home that is calm, cozy, and inviting, not active and noisy. Her personality would best be described as delicate, dainty, sweet, and calm. She loves heated cat beds and fluffy blankets. Her favorite toys include springs, scratching posts, and crinkly tunnels.

If you're looking for a sweet/calm reading buddy, who can also make a great lap warmer, she will make the perfect addition to the family.

From the first day she came to CVHS as a stray, she has had mild symptoms of URI (upper respiratory infection), which includes runny eyes and some nasal congestion. As she has had these symptoms, we have consulted with our supporting veterinarians for her care. While we are unsure why she seems to have more URI symptoms than the average feline, most likely it is her body's response to stress or changes in environment. Also, being an older kitten with no early medical care and vaccines to help her immune system as she grew can be a contributing factor. Since we know that moving from her foster home into an adopter's home will increase her chance of developing runny eyes and other URI symptoms, we will be providing her adopter with eye drops to treat, if that is needed. We will also provide some Lysine immune support powder to help with the transition. Just like we recommend with any adoption, starting her off in a smaller area of her new home and then doing a slow meeting between pets is recommended. An adopter should speak with their veterinarian regarding future care, if Spice Bucket needs it later on in life.
