Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Lulu and I want to tell you a story of luck, both good....and bad. My bad luck started when I ended up in a rural, over crowded shelter. I was adopted twice (good luck!) and returned twice (bad luck! See how this is going to go?), once for chasing a cat and once for sleeping on the couch!
I spent over 200 days in a kennel in a shelter!!! Bad luck! But they let me stay for over 200 days when they could have euthanized me after a week. Good luck! Then, I really hit the jackpot when an Augusta Dog Adoptions Foster Family offered to take me home and make me the luckiest girl in the world! I was all like....is this the Bellagio? or the MGM? The accomodations are immaculate and I'm thankful to be here!
In my foster home, I am the perfect sister to an old dog, a young puppy and the most awesome pre-teen boy around! I sleep on the couch (yeah, that's right!), in the bed, play in the yard, ride in the car and help my foster mom do all of her house work! I'm a smart girl and I've been around long enough to learn some cool tricks! I'm 7 years old and 56 pounds and I know how to sit, shake with BOTH hands and lie down.
I am just about perfect except that I get really stressed out if you leave me alone! Over 200 days in a shelter and bouncing around from house to house has taken it's toll on me. I'm afraid you will leave me and where I will end up if you don't come back. I need to be crated when you leave but I will pee and maybe even poo in there because I'm so upset. If you leave me and don't put him in a crate, I might tear down your blinds or eat a rug or something. I know that everyone has to leave the house sometimes but I sure do wish that I could find a family who is home most of the time and is willing to work with me. I promise to pay you back by doing the best I can and loving you more than anyone else ever has! So whadda ya say? Roll the dice, take a chance, I might be the best dog you could ever have!
A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Lulu, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs!
Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
