My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nixi, a 1.5-year-old Aussie mix who is ready to be your very best friend. At a solid 50 pounds, she’s the perfect size for those who want a cuddle buddy with just enough heft to remind you she’s there... but without the lap-crushing weight of a Great Dane.
Nixi’s story is one of resilience and hope. She found herself in a shelter, staring down death row, but she’s got a spirit that refuses to be dampened. Even when she ended up coming out heartworm positive and had to undergo treatment, she has always kept her happy-go-lucky personality and shows her love for people and life every day! <3

Nixi is a pro at hopping into the car for an adventure, and she’s equally happy to chill out at home, so she’s the ultimate dog for any kind of outing (or non-outing). Whether you're hitting the café scene or binge-watching your latest TV obsession, she’s right there with you. In fact, Nixi is the perfect mix of playful and laid-back. She’ll wrestle and play with another dog her size, then promptly hit the couch to ponder the finer things in life, like belly rubs and her next chew toy victim. Nixi’s leash manners are improving every day. She might pull a little, especially when she smells something amazing (probably a rogue hamburger), but she’s learning fast. Her love for walks is matched only by her excitement for meeting new people. Expect her to offer her paw in exchange for pets – and then keep the tail-wagging coming because she loves making new friends.

Nixi does well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. As far as proper doggie etiquette...well let's just say she is a work in progress. 😆 Nixi’s approach to toys and food is simple: “What’s mine is mine, and what’s yours…well, can’t we share?” She’s working on the whole “not everything needs to be communal” concept. She’s respectful of other dogs most of the time, but if she wants something and the other dog doesn't want to share she may get a bit sassy. Ever have that friend who comes over, immediately raids your snack stash, settles in to binge-watch your favorite shows, and makes themselves right at home? But when you visit their place, suddenly they’re just a little territorial about their own stuff? Yeah, that’s Nixi. She’s the sweetest girl, blissfully unaware that she can be just a little bit selfish at times—but we’re convinced she’s on the verge of an epiphany about manners and sharing! No aggression or rudeness intended, of course—Nixi’s just a bit socially "inexperienced" She’s like that friend who means well but still hasn't quite mastered the fine art of not taking the last slice of pizza. Nixi is great with kids! Her playful and adaptable nature makes her a fun companion for children. She’ll happily join in on the games and enjoy the attention, making her a delightful addition to a family with kids. Just like with other pets, she’s still learning the ropes of proper play, but her affectionate and eager-to-please demeanor means she’ll fit right in with a little guidance. So, if you’ve got a family looking for a sweet and energetic dog who can keep up with their activities and bring joy to their lives, Nixi is ready to jump in and make it even more fun!

Nixi’s house manners are as charmingly quirky as she is. She’s mastered the art of being potty trained and can rock a spot on the couch like a pro. When left to her own devices, she’s pretty chill – no digging up the yard or munching on your favorite shoes. She’s also a model of indoor behavior, sure, she might "borrow" your sandwich off the counter if you leave it unattended, but can you really blame her? That nose of hers is like a five-star restaurant critic, and when something smells delicious, she’s ready to dine. Counter surfing? More like gourmet adventuring. If you think about it, it's really your fault that your lunch is now in her tummy...leaving it unattended was her invitation. ;)

So, if you’re looking for a playful companion who’s equally adept at being a snuggle buddy and a house manners superstar, Nixi is your gal! With her mix of Aussie energy and sweet charm, she’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and a bit of lighthearted mischief into your home. Ready to welcome a furry friend who will make every day an adventure and every moment a memory? Nixi is just waiting for you to sweep her off her paws and into your heart. So come meet this delightful ball of fluff and see for yourself why she’s destined to be your next best friend! 🐾💖
