My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am looking for a foster or forever family!

Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org to sign up to foster!

Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt

Hi! I'm Fern. I'm from Minnesota.

From her foster : This sweet, gentle soul has really come out of her shell in the few weeks we've had her! She spent the first couple weeks hiding under beds, but now she arches her back and rubs against our legs when we are nearby, and she leans into neck scratches and all sorts of petting, purring up a storm! We have also enjoyed some snuggles from her in the nighttime!

Fern loves to sit in window sills. She regulates her own eating, so we can keep it simple and keep dry food out all day long. She has only begun to play with toys a few days ago, as maybe those were not a part of her life before she came to TBB.

Our resident cat wants to play with her, and shows that by chasing, cornering, and swatting at Fern. Fern seems afraid of this, so we are giving them short, supervised play sessions and then giving Fern her own dedicated space away from the resident cat. Fern could do well with other pets if the personalities are a match.

This love bug is ready for a loving home, and we can only imagine how she will continue to blossom over time with more trust and feelings of safety.

From the Vet:
Hi! I'm Fern and I wanted my future family to know a bit more about my medical history.
I was seen at a TBB vet partner and they saw that I had a fractured canine tooth. The plan will be to address this during my spay procedure so I will have at least one less tooth and a good cleaning before going to my forever home. They tell me kitties with a few less teeth still manage to eat well and usually don't know any different! I hope to meet you soon!

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
