My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Blondie! I'm from Kansas.

From her foster: Blondie is an adorable and amazing high energy puppy. She loves her people and is always at the ready to play, give kisses, and do somersaults while playing the yard. She loves fetch and playing with her toys.

In the short time she has been with us, she has been exposed to lots of new people, places and things and we have all learned a lot:

1) Blondie's disarming cuteness attracts humans of all shapes and sizes. While she sometimes gives a nervous bark, she always greets people with licks and a wagging tail.
2) She travels exceptionally well in her crate, napping through long car rides and even on a boat.
3) The crate is more than a source of shelter. Blondie finds it a safe space to rest, play and to store all of her prized possessions... each new toy she is given is immediately brought back to the crate for safe keeping.
4) Not only is Blondie a cutie, she is also extremely smart. At 11 weeks she already able to sit for treats and does a good job with leash walking. Crate training is going quickly and we are hopeful that potty training is a fast follow. She does sleep through the night without accidents.

She is amazing...

All of us have areas of personal development. Blondie's development plan includes working on food aggression and her attitude towards other dogs. While we are able to approach the food dish and even remove it while Blondie is eating, she becomes protective of it when another dog approaches. We have been working on this by having our family dog, Ruby, eat on the other side of the X-Pen while Blondie is eating and correcting any barking or growling. This will take some continued practice, but she is improving each time.

Blondie is still making up her mind regarding other dogs. She can be aggressive by barking at dogs who walk past our yard but can also be nervous and submissive to other dogs while we are walking on leash away from our yard. This too will require more practice. Once Blondie has all of her puppy vaccinations, she can be socialized more frequently. As mentioned above, she is super smart and we are more than confident she will develop into a wonderful companion.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
