My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Honey

From her foster: Honey is the sweetest most loving dog you'll ever meet (Especially if there is food involved)! Honey was brought to rescue at 6 from a dog mill without socialization and has spent the last 4 years learning how to love life and be a dog. She is simply the best companion you can ask for! Honey is very low maintenance in terms of exercise and excitement. She is the most excited in the morning to go outside, do her business and come in for breakfast! Honey loves other animals, but does best with lower energy friends that do not get into her face too much (she is over puppies). Honey would do best with older children that can give her the opportunity to come to them and not so energetic or want to play. Honey absolutely loves to be pet, cuddle and snores like the best of them. She has enough energy for walks, but can also spend the day napping while you work. She loves car rides, snacks and just watching the world go around. Honey is shy and can be nervous around new situations and people, but she is easy to coax into being petted and loved on. She has her quirks, but that just makes her who she is. She is house trained and does not need a crate. She walks great on a leash and is happy to go wherever you go. She is just the sweetest dog you will ever meet.

Because Honey was not raised in a typical setting the first few years, she gets a bit nervous in new situations and sometimes confused. She needs someone that understands that new places or moved furniture can be confusing and work with and help her to learn her new surroundings. Her nervousness is just pacing around an item or uncertainty if it is safe. She just needs gentle verbal cues to come along and she will figure it out.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
