Copper, Dixie and Britten were transferred in from Glynn County Animal Services. They definitely appear to be Catahoula Leopard mixes. Also, we believe that Dixie is most likely Britten's mom. Copper could be the dad, but it is truly unknown. We aren't privy to how they ended up at an animal control facility. We are guessing they were strays. Copper, Dixie and Britten have the usual personalities of this breed. Very alert, nose to the ground, taking in all the news and somewhat independent. Catahoulas are a working breed, so it would be a great idea to research them before adopting. Certainly you couldn't ask for more dedicated, loyal dogs. Although they won't win any awards for walking on a leash, Dixie and Britten have apparently had a little more practice than Copper. OK, a lot more. Of course, practice makes perfect! If you are an active family with lots of time for gentle training, Copper might be the perfect match for you. Email reception@hsscg.org for an appointment to meet Copper. Alternatively you can just come on in. We are open 11 to 4 Tuesday through Saturday. Copper is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines and has tested negative for heartworms.
