My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Who says blind puppies can't have a normal, happy, fun life??!!

Nugget (Chicky/Nuggy as we like to call him) says hold my pup cup, and I'll show you !
This handsome lab mix boy is approximately 4.5 months old, 35 lbs and growing, fully vetted, and looking for his next adventure with his forever family.

Nugget is potty and crate trained. He loves being outside and playing with other dogs. Cat compatibility is unknown, but with proper introduction and training, he should do fine. He is a little shy at first but warms up quickly.

Because of his blindness (unknown cause), he does startle easily and will need a family who is patient, understanding, and can help him with his confidence.
Nugget does require a fully fenced yard. He is fully vetted and microchipped.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require that the interested adopter come to meet the dog and then fill out an adoption application. We will review the application and then pass on to the dog's foster family (if applicable). We then contact the potential adopter's vet and we will also do a home visit. If all goes well, the adopter signs our adoption contract stating that, among other things, the dog will receive regular vet care and must be returned to us if things do not work out.

More about this rescue

We focus primarily on rescuing senior and special needs dogs in kill facilities. We are located on 30 acres of land in rural southern Michigan. We are a care-for-life facility, so any dog that does not or that we deem cannot be adopted will live with us for the rest of his/her life. Because we rescue the dogs that are not in high demand, it normally takes our dogs longer to find that perfect family. We believe that it takes a special family to adopt our special dogs.
