My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We first spotted Louie out in the old barn, and he would run off everytime we tried to approach him. He had blood around his neck and looked a bit thin. Thankfully we were able to leave food for him, and we watched him eat from a distance. We eventually live trapped Louie and off to the vet he went to be neutered, vaccinated, tested and treated for parasites. He had multiple bite wounds around his neck which were cleaned up and treated.

Today, Louie has made progress, and we are able to get close to him in his enclosure, but still are not able to touch him. We have taught Louie to eat in a cat crate (for when we have to catch him to take him to the vet) and he will play with toys, always uses his litter box and seems to like the other cats here at the sanctuary.

He talks to us, especially during feeding times, and seems to enjoy our company. Louie will require a very special home - someone with patience and a calm environment.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Welcoming a pet into your home is a commitment of time, patience, money and love. You should think very carefully and do your research before adopting any animal. Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary spays / neuters all companion animals before adoption. All animals are vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested (dogs), feline leukemia tested and microchipped. If you find an animal that you are interested in on our web site please call, or e-mail us, and we will gladly tell you more about that special animal. Our experienced volunteers will help you select a companion animal that will fit your personality and lifestyle. We want you to experience a rewarding, lifetime relationship with your new companion. If you find a furry friend you wish to adopt you will fill out an adoption application and then a home visit will be set up. At the time of adoption you will fill out an adoption contract and pay the adoption donation.

Go meet their pets

Some of our pets live at our sanctuary in Shell Lake, WI, and others are fostered in homes in the Twin Cities, MN area. We do adoptions days at least once a month. We can make arrangements for you to meet any of our pets on an appointment basis.

More about this rescue

Rescued Tails is a small group of volunteers who believes that every life is valuable, and that every healthy or treatable animal is worth saving. We have an affinity for those animals whose chances of being rescued from impounds or kill-shelters are minimized due to breed, age, temperament and/or color. We provide training or seek medical treatment when applicable to ensure that every one of our animals gets a chance at a new beginning.
