Dear Woodstock’s new family: Woodstock came to us spooked by everything – a falling leaf would send him running. Every day, he is joyfully coming more and more out of his shell! This freckled polar bear is a giant baby. He is cashmere soft, unbelievably sweet, quite submissive, a great leash walker (no pulling although he will cower in fear if a large truck goes by), does not jump, and matches your energy levels well (as I write this, I am sitting next to him on the ground and he just finished his bone and is now resting his big babyhead on my leg). Woodstock loves every human and dog he meets, and will be the most wonderful addition to any family. Woodstock recently went on a field trip to a girls’ lacrosse game to meet new human and pup friends. His pup friend-making strategy goes like this: 1. Approach friend target from 2 feet away flattened to the ground in an army crawl, 2. Upon reaching target, immediately roll on back, 3. If target seems interested, continue roll for 1-2 rotations, 4. Tummy-creep back to friend who is now both flattered and impressed! His strategy has worked wonders. It has had the added benefit of endearing him to human friends. Woodstock loves little humans and big humans. He is always gentle and curious. While he yearns to make friends, he can be a little nervous to start. But once you’re in, get ready for the most good-natured, most-loving, pup. He is fun and playful but will also sit quietly next to you chewing his bone or playing with his toys. Woodstock is working hard learning his commands, mastering potty-training, and identifying which items are his for chewing and which are shoes. He will pick up items that are not his but a quick “no” has him dropping it and running for the hills. He is not food motivated but does love peanut butter. He is not pumped about his crate, but he will go in on his own. At this point, he does not like to be in the crate for lengthy periods of time, however, he is getting more comfortable each day. Woodstock would love a yard to play in, a canine companion to show him the ropes and give him confidence, and a family member to be around more than not. He will bring so much joy and happiness to your life. We love him with all our hearts and we know you will too. With love, Woodstock’s Foster Family
