My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ BERYLS’S BIO IN DETAIL TO ENSURE THAT SHE WILL BE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU AND YOUR LIFESTYLE BEORE APPLYING. PEASE NOTE: BERYL IS BEING FOSTERED IN THE MONTREAL AREA

We at All Paws Matter believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. This is now a requirement in our adoption process. Proof of training classes for puppies specifically is required before adoption.

Beryl named after the hurricane can be just that, she is full of life and energy but just as easily can be calm and cuddly.  If you are looking for a Velcro dog, she is your gal, she is always ready to be by your side, or more accurately on your heels to share your next adventure or nap.
Beryl is a social butterfly; she is friendly and loves everyone she meets.  Men, woman, children…She is very docile yet sweet when meeting new people.

She is incredibly adept at reading other dogs and although she would love to play with them all she is respectful of those that have no interest in play and gives them their space.
The same cannot be said for cats, although she means zero harm, she can be a little overwhelming for cats that are not dog savvy.  She will chase them. We are still working on this and I do see an improvement, but she has her slips.

Beryl has prey drive towards squirrels, birds and yes skunks, however, it is very easy to redirect her attention away from such critters. Beryl doesn’t like flies, they really get on her nerves.

She walks nicely on a leash and loves to go for walks, the longer the better.  She is a high energy dog and will need an outlet for this energy daily to avoid behaviour issues. She is still very much a puppy and needs to be monitored or she will look for things to get into.  She is very smart, easily trainable and in-tune with her environment, she will literally read a room, you can almost see the wheels turning in her head.  Because of this I think with some additional training she could make a remarkable therapy dog.

She is crate trained and happily retires to her crate.
She is terrific in cars and loves going for rides.

Her ideal adopter would be one with an active lifestyle and want to include her in every aspect of it.  She would be fine in a home with or without another dog, and as I said before she is highly trainable, so her potential is huge.  She will make someone an amazing companion.

If you feel you would be the right fit for Beryl, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.allpawsmatter.ca/apply-to-adopt/

All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety.

NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed.

BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!

More about this rescue

At All Paws Matter Dog Rescue along with our sister rescue SOS el Arca, we are determined to save as many broken, abused, abandoned to die and neglected street and shelter dogs in Canada and Mexico as we can. Motivated by a deep love of our 4 legged friends, our mandate is to save and improve as many lives as possible. We have seen many tragedies and have witnessed the most horrible cruelties, but we know working together we can make a significance difference. Raising the awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering our 4 legged friends and through the love and support of our wonderful volunteers, supporters and adopters our hope is to rescue, heal and successfully rehome as many of these deserving souls as possible.
