Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
At just two years old, Laveau is a charming mixed breed with a heart full of joy and a spirit that’s ready for adventure! And he is fostering in New England!
About a year ago, he and his brother and sister (including the lovely Mardi Gras, who is also seeking a home; their brother Lafayette has recently been adopted) were rescued from the high kill shelter where they had grown up. While their lives were no longer at risk and they had more freedom, they didn’t find adoptive families, so now Lavvy is part of the PAWS family, fostering in CT.
He’s still got a puppy personality that makes everyone love him! He’s eagerly awaiting his forever family with whom he can share his love.
Lavvy gets along with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. He adores his sister. He enjoys playful roughhousing with other dogs but takes cues well from them and doesn’t try to be a dominant dog. While he loves playing with other dogs, he is also happy to be with people, whether it’s enjoying an activity or just chilling together. If you’re active, that’s great with him, but you could literally just sit in a chair and throw him toys all day long. He will toss them in the air and throw them around like he is performing for you.
He has not lived with small children or cats, so we can’t really say how he’d be with them, but because he’s big and sometimes jumps up when he’s excited, older children would probably be best. He can be cat tested if needed.
Despite not experiencing the comforts of living in a home until he came to New England, he has quickly adapted to the joys of domestic life, although some supervision is needed as he continues to learn what “toys” are and are not acceptable!
He’s both crate-trained and house-trained and is proving to be a quick learner as he starts his obedience training. His eagerness to please makes him a perfect candidate for further training adventures!
Lavvy is a playful, sometimes silly, fun-loving boy, all wrapped up in one handsome package. He would undoubtedly make a wonderful addition to a loving family.

More about this rescue
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.
Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
