My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Twizzler is a beauty who is a little out of sorts as she is trying to figure out this shelter life that she has found herself in. She does not know if she should be afraid, shy or happy. She does know that she could be happy if she were in a home with caring humans who have patience and love. She is naturally a high energy dog who responds well to consistent boundaries and training so a home who understands that and is willing to train her is preferred. We can help you with positive reinforcement training tips to use with Twizzler. She will appreciate it and so will you because Twizzler wants to be fast tracked to being the loyal, protective companion that she really is. She will want lots of space for running and playing. She will love walks when you show her how to walk nicely. She will learn fast because she is smart and she wants to please her people. Have you been thinking about getting a high energy dog to share your active life with? If so, Twizzler might be your lady. If you are a match, you will have your new best friend through thick and thin. Bring a leash and come to our shelter to meet the Twizzler - the one with the stunning white face.

At SDHS:
Twizzler has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered and is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
