Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hello! My name is Rizzo, and I'm a 2-year-old Dachshund mix. I've been through quite a bit in my short life, and it's left me feeling a bit on the shy side. I came from a tough situation, so I'm still learning to trust new people and adjust to new surroundings.
Even though I might be a bit cautious at first, I'm a sweet dog at heart. With some patience and gentle care, I'll show you just how loving and loyal I can be. A quiet and calm home would be perfect for me, and having a friendly furry friend around might make me feel even more comfortable, though it's not something I absolutely need.
What I really need is a kind and understanding human who can take the time to get to know me and let me come out of my shell at my own pace. If you think you can offer me a safe and loving home, I'd be thrilled to meet you and start our journey together! Primary Color: Black Weight: 16.6 Age: 2yrs 0mths 3wks

More about this shelter
Woods Humane Society, Inc. is a nonprofit, privately funded organization dedicated to the humane care of unwanted animals in San Luis Obispo County. Our Staff, volunteers, and board of directors are dedicated to upholding our Mission and preserving the welfare of our present and future animals.
While we cooperate with the State Humane Association of California, the American Humane Association, and The Humane Society of the United States, Woods does not receive financial support from them. Only 20% of our revenues to care for the animals are generated by service fees, the other 80% is generated from fund-raising events, grants, wills, and mainly community donations.
Woods Humane Society is proud to be a leader among the nation’s humane organizations. Thanks to loyal and broad-based community support, and the diligent efforts of our dedicated staff and volunteers, Woods placement rate averages 97%, an outstanding achievement.
None of this work could be completed without the incredible support of our community and our wonderful volunteers.
