Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a
question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.
Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.
Meet Milo! Milo is an 8-year-old, 74 lb, Labrador who came to us after his owner passed away. He was missing his person and in need of a new family to love.
Milo received a dental and had two benign masses removed. He is fully housebroken and has good vision and hearing. Milo does have arthritis and takes medications to help with stiffness. A home with few stairs would be ideal. Don’t let him fool you though; this pup has no trouble chasing after squirrels. Milo loves being outside, going for walks, and exploring the backyard. He would do well in a family with gentle, dog savvy children or an adult-only home. Milo gets along well with dogs and cats, is crate-trained, and sleeps in a dog bed. He isn’t a fan of loud noises and likes a bit of chicken mixed in with his food.
Milo’s foster describes him as a love that just wants to be loved. He really enjoys hugs and kisses, and he is a dog that wants to cuddle! Milo is happy to go for car rides, lay in the sun, and just be with his people. Give him some treats and he will be yours forever. This special boy needs a new family to share his life with. Can it please be with you? Apply today!

The goal of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to find the best home possible for our senior dogs. To assist us in this endeavor, SDH&H requires a fully completed application, references, and a visit to your home by one of our trained volunteers. For this reason we only process applications within a reasonable commute from the dog's foster home.
Our adoption fee is $200, however we offer a discounted rate of $150 for senior adopters over the age of 65.

More about this rescue
We are a small, dedicated group of fosters and volunteers. We strive to improve the lives of senior dogs who find themselves without a family to care for them anymore. We do not have a facility. Our dogs live in our homes as members of our families. We provide care, comfort, companionship and, most of all, unconditional love. We have worked in senior rescue for years, and see the continuing and growing need to get them out of shelters where they are often euthanized because of their age and/or medical reasons, or from owners that find themselves in crisis and no longer able to care for their companions (nursing home, illness, abusive situations, etc).
Senior Dog Haven and Hospice is a registered 501(c)3. All donations to our rescue are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
