Here's what the humans have to say about me:
*Benny can accept applications now, but cannot go home until after his bladder stones have been resolved and he has been re-checked by the vet*
Meet Benny!
This dapper gentleman is estimated to be around 15 years old. He was surrendered to HSoP through no fault of his own, and is now ready to find the perfect place to live out his golden years.
Despite his impressive age, Benny is in great health! He went to the vet just last week, showed excellent bloodwork, and received a clean bill of health. The one health struggle that Benny has are some small bladder stones, which are common for dogs his age. He's currently being treated for this with a urinary food diet. The bladder stones will pass, but Benny may need to stay on his urinary food to avoid more issues down the line.
Benny has poor hearing due to his age. He isn't 100% deaf, but he does struggle quite a bit with this. The good news is, Benny always has his eye trained on human friends! So even if he doesn't hear you coming, he will see you coming and greet you with a wagging tail. Benny is an affectionate dog and loves being pet. Give him some good scratches, and you'll earn yourself a new best friend! (He isn't shy about giving kisses, so be warned!)
Our staff and volunteers have truly loved Benny in the time he's been with us. He's gone on several walks with volunteers and always manages to keep up! While he'd prefer to sit out on a strenuous mountain hike, Benny has no problem going on short walks to keep him active. In fact, he really loves getting to sniff and explore new areas!
Benny is certainly a senior dog, but the puppy in him jumps right to the surface when making friends. We truly cannot wait for this sweet boy to find a comfy and loving home of his own.
If you would like to meet Benny, we encourage you to visit him at HSoP! Our dog kennels are open from 2-5pm Monday through Saturday with no appointments needed. Benny is neutered, current on vaccines, and will leave the shelter with a microchip containing his new owner's information. Since Benny is over the age of 6, his adoption fee is just $67.50.
