My name is Prancer, and I'm a 25-year-old pony who's been through a lot but has come through the other side stronger then ever. On September 21st, 2023 the PA State Police received a call about me. I was living in a pasture all by myself and didn't have access to clean water (there were dead mice in my water, yuck!). I was very under weight at 468 pounds. The PA State Police knew I needed help, so they obtained a search warrant and, along with the ACSPCA, they seized me from a bad situation.
The ACSPCA called in an equine dentist who floated my teeth and found that I had a birth defect in my jaw. When I ate grain, most of the feed would fall out of my mouth, and I wasn't getting the nutrition I should have been getting. When I was younger I was able to eat better but as I got older I also got arthritis in my jaw, so it was getting harder for me to chew. I am so grateful that the staff listened to my cries for help. They started soaking my feed in water so it would be nice and soft for me to chew. I gained 10 pounds in the first 8 days I was here and it's been up hill ever since, I now weigh 550 pounds.
I've been here 360 days, waiting patiently for my day in court. Now that it's over I am looking for a loving home where I can live out my golden years in peace.
I'm strong-willed and independent, but don't let that fool you-I'm also affectionate once I trust you. I enjoy attention from my human friends, though I prefer to be the queen of my pasture, without any small animals around. I love grazing in peace and exploring my surroundings, and I'll appreciate a quiet space where I can enjoy the simple things in life.
If you're looking for a strong, independent pony with a heart of gold, I'd love to meet you! Please fill out an adoption application. I can't wait to find a home where I can be loved and cared for, just as I deserve.
With hopeful neighs and gentle trots, Prancer
