DOG TEST: (Good with Dogs) Kobe is super playful and has a dominant play style. Kobe loves to antagonize other dogs and play super rough.

CAT TEST: (Bad with Cats) Kobe does not seem to enjoy the company of cats.

KID TEST: (Okay with Kids) Kobe seems like he would be alright around kids but he has never met any to the staffs knowlege.
HOUSE BROKEN: (Potty Trained) Kobe seems to be potty trained.
ENERGY LEVEL: (High) Kobe loves to run around the back yard and chase toys. He loves to go on long walks outside and never seems to slow down!

LEASH WALKING: (Needs Work) Kobe sometimes does well on a leash but he can get excited and pull pretty hard.

Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm

We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter

We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.

Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.

When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
