My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Princess Xena and I am a beautiful 4 yr old female chocolate Lab. I am a good girl and am told I am a sweetheart. I love my foster Dad and love being right next to him! You might call me a Velcro girl!
I am up for adoption with my brother, Benjamin Bear, who is 5 years old. We are considered a 'bonded pair,' which means we will be adopted out together. Two is always better than one, right?!

We were a little concerned when we first came to our foster home, but we settled in nicely and discovered that we love going out for walks! My brother likes the walks a little more than me, but I am still all about it. We used to be pretty chubby, but not anymore, we lost the extra weight and now we look great! I am very good with other dogs and people and I love everyone I have come in contact with! As long as I am with my people, I am happy!

We are healthy and don't have any mobility issues. We are taking joint supplements because we are big dogs. I am 94 lbs. My brother is a little bigger, around 107 lbs. SCLRR took us to the vet recently and we had blood work done, we were neutered/spayed, and we had our vaccines updated. I also had entropion surgery to fix my eyelashes that were bothering me. I feel so much better!

We are gentle and loving and we would be a wonderful dog for someone. My preference would be for my brother and me to go to a loving family where we get to go on a walk every day! It would also be nice if our new owner stayed home for part of the day, because we love being around people so much.

I am told that I was probably a stand-up comedian in my past life. I am really eager to get ALL your attention and will not leave your side. I will assume the belly rub position in the morning - the only way to say good morning - and have an endless amount of love and kisses. I am great on a leash and house trained.

If you are considering adopting two well-behaved, fun-loving, and easy-going Labrador Retrievers, please consider adopting Benjamin Bear and me, Princess Xena!
If you are interested in making this Lab part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative. If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the dog's foster home.

Additional adoption info

SCLRR is a foster based, all volunteer rescue. Adoption applications and home visits are required for approval to adopt.

Careful time, temperment testing and fostering with further evaluating to help adopters find the right match for their lifestyle and for the dog's needs is the hallmark of SCLRR. We consider the needs of both adopting family and of our rescue dogs.

The fostered Labradors can be visited for possible adoption at the individual dog's foster home by approved adopters.

Thorough information is provided along with a folder of such things as up to date vaccine records, spay/neuter certification, microchip registration information, pedigree and kennel registration if provided along with any other paperwork we might have. A terms of Adoption is filled out and signed, providing ownership to the adopter.

The adoption fee is $350 or $150 for a senior Lab (7 years and older). Any known medical needs a dog might have are taken care of by SCLRR prior to adoption.

SCLRR prides itself on our high standards of temperment testing, medical care given and our fair treatment of adopting families.
