My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Uva arrived:
She was brought into care by community member.

At SDHS:
She has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. She is now ready for her new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Uva is a beauty with her almost all white body and tabby accents on her head and tail. She has a dark nose and pretty eyes which gives her face an elegant look. When we sit with Uva in her habitat, she is so shy. She will back away from our outstretched hand. She does not run away but she lacks the confidence to come to us. We have learned that soft baby talk, some tuna on our fingers being patient will entice her to us. It will not be long before she stretches to us for more tuna and some gentle pets. When Uva gets in her new home where she knows that her owners love and care for her, she will quickly blossom into a friendly house cat. She is litter trained and keeps herself very clean. She may be more of a couch potato than hunter cat. A few toys and maybe a cat tree and she will be happy - and lots of lap time. Do you want a nice, mellow cat who with a little love and guidance will be a VIC in your world - that's Very Important Cat. Come to our shelter and meet your future VIC.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
