My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wizard is a striking 1 year and 9-month-old black poodle who has just begun his journey into the world outside a breeding facility. His shiny, ebony coat is as beautiful as it is soft, but it’s his gentle heart that truly defines him. Though Wizard is handsome, his past has left him cautious and uncertain of new experiences. He’s still learning to navigate the world, so he may appear hesitant or fearful, especially around unfamiliar sights and sounds.

Currently, Wizard is not comfortable walking on a leash, but with time and patient training, he is expected to learn and grow more confident. His housebreaking skills are steadily improving, and he is making strides every day. While he enjoys the company of other dogs, he can be a bit shy and easily startled if they become too playful.

Wizard can warm up to affection, but he needs it to be offered gently and slowly. He’s best suited for a family that can offer a calm, patient environment, as he will need time to build trust and confidence. Because of his nervous nature, he’s not the ideal match for a home with young children. A fenced yard would be beneficial to help him explore and feel safe.

If you’re willing to invest the time and care Wizard needs, he will reward you with his sweet, loyal companionship. This beautiful boy is ready to find a patient and loving family where he can truly flourish. If interested please submit an application.

Additional adoption info

If a particular pooch has caught your eye or if you’re searching for a new furry family member, take a few minutes to complete our online adoption application or stop by our Adoption Events to visit with our adoptable pups.

Our application review team will contact you as they process your application and check with your references. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received, but our primary responsibility is to find the best home for each individual dog and the best match for you and your family regardless of application order. We want to see that every animal and family are well-suited as a forever match.

Our adoption fees vary by the animal’s age and specific breed. All adopted dogs will receive vaccinations against distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus, as well as flea/tick treatments and de-worming. Dogs who are too young to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated against rabies will receive vouchers to one of our local veterinary partners.

Please contact us with any additional questions! We are available by phone at 847-566-6799, through our website, or through direct messaging on Facebook. We’re happy to answer any questions and work with you as you search for your new family member!
