My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Amelia was brought in by her previous owner on September 12, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Amelia, a sweet senior cat who likes attention on her own terms-preferably with all paws on the floor. Though she arrived a little underweight, her love of food is helping her bounce back to a healthy weight. Amelia has lived with a dog before and handled it well, and with a slow introduction, she might do okay with another cat or she may just prefer to be your one and only! This lovely lady is ready to be pampered and treated like the queen she is! As a senior, she'll need adopters who are committed to regular veterinary care to keep her happy and healthy in her golden years. Ready to spoil this gentle soul? Amelia is eager to be your devoted companion! Don't forget to bring a secure cat carrier for the journey home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
