My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Button!

Button and Clasp came in with their mom when their previous guardians could no longer provide them with the time and attention they needed. Button is as cute as a button! She loves to play with her brother and snuggle the day away. Button would love to go to a home with other cats to play with, or would even like to go to a home with her brother, Clasp, together.

Button and Clasp are awaiting spay and neuter appointments within the week and are looking for local adopters that will be able to take them to and from their appointments.

If you are interested in adding a new member to your family, and have all the attention and love ready to devote to a feline for the rest of their life, come meet Button at the West Van shelter. Viewing hours are 12-3pm, Tues-Sunday. We prioritize in-person applicants as first come-first consideration.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
