My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application
Please do not call the shelter; do the application first.

Introducing the Muppet Pups! These adorable fluffers were born at the shelter on 7/15/24, to mama Lexington, an approximately 50# husky. So far, Lexi isn't naming names, so we have no idea what else is mixed in with these cuties - they are a "husky/LeMutte" mix.

For your viewing pleasure (and hopefully one will fill that hole in your heart and home), we present (with their weights as of 8/26/24 6 weeks of age):

BEAKER Male 10#
BUNSEN Male 9.2#
FOZZIE Male 9.6#
GONZO Male 9.6#
KERMIT Male 10.8#
RIZZO Female 9.8#
ROWLF Male 11.6#
SCOOTER Female 9.8#
ZOOT Female 9.2#

You're probably wondering how big they will be when full grown. So are we! Our best shot-in-the-dark guesstimate would be somewhere between mom's 50# and a hefty 85#, with Rowlf being the clear size winner and Zoot and Bunsen being the smallest... so far. One of the GREAT things about adopting a mixed breed shelter pup is, you are guaranteed to have an absolutely unique individual! One of the FRUSTRATING things is, we cannot promise your new family member isn't going to require you to get a bigger car or house (ha). These delightful pups are worth accommodating no matter how large or small they turn out to be - they are simply delightful.

They will all be ready to head home at the end of September.

Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. These pups' ideal homes will have someone who can exercise them with a couple of energetic walks each day, plus commitment to training them how to be the best dogs they can be. They hope to have very few hours per day when they will be without the companionship of a human or other pet, and will reward their forever people with boundless love and loyalty!

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Additional adoption info

Our minimum adoption donations are indicated on each pet's listing.

The first step toward adoption is to fill out the application, which we can email to you or you can find on our website:

http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application

Filling out the application in no way commits you to adopting - it simply enables us to get you preapproved, in case you decide you want to adopt. If you are then approved and offered a pet placement, you may always refuse the placement. If you accept a placement, we always give you three days (for puppies and kittens) or thirty days (for adult dogs and cats) to live with each other; if during that time you decide that your new pet simply won't work out, for any reason, we will accept the pet back with a full refund of your adoption donation. You could either return the pet directly to us, or have it picked up on our next transport! I must say, we are very proud of our successful placement record - we really work hard to make sure you and your pet will be a great match.

If you are out of our immediate area, we ask that you email some photos of your home, yard (including fence if you have one), any "animal-specific" areas (such as a dog run, cat tree, or sleeping area) and any other pets you currently own. Sometimes photos enable us to skip the pre-adoption home visit, which can speed things up considerably for out of area adoptions! For the vet reference, either a vet who is seeing your current pets, or a vet who saw a former pet, is acceptable. If this is your first pet ever, congratulations on joining the pet world! :-D We will consider your application without a vet reference, but we would like to know what vet you think you will use for your pet. Without a vet reference, please be sure to provide at least two strong personal references who would know how you are with animals.

If we have an upcoming transport scheduled to your area, we will make every effort to process and approve your application in time for the transport.

Go meet their pets

We do transports of adopted pets to the Seattle and Spokane areas at least once each month, and can sometimes schedule transports to other locations in WA, ID, OR, MT as needed.
