Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Sammy von Schraden is a beautiful, 12-month-old Shepherd/Husky mix (best guess). With his piercing blue eyes and stunning coat, Sammy is a real sight for sore eyes. He captures attention everywhere he goes, and he loves soaking it all in. You see, Sammy is a very social, enthusiastic pup so he never misses a moment to have some fun, meet new people or make new canine friends. Likely housebroken, Sammy is a manageable size and super sweet - he'll happily climb in your lap and bestow sweet puppy kisses. Walks are one of his favorite pastimes, where he particularly enjoys exploring and strolling along with a group of his puppy pals. Sammy also loves getting out into the doggy yard and romping around with them too, never losing his energy but always being polite. But without fail, after a long day of walks and play, all he’ll want to do is curl up in your lap. We love this sweet, sweet boy and just know you will too.
Rescued from the Kern county animal shelter.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Sammy von Schraden YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org
Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

In order to adopt any dog from Westside German Shepherd Rescue, one must fill out an adoption application first. Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
