Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Thunder is a five year old (born approximately 7/1/2019) very handsome boy. He received his name because he was found outside during a thunderstorm in a puddle in the road as a tiny kitten. Fortunately he was rescued by a very kind family or he would certainly have perished If they had not come along to save him.
Thunder has a gorgeous grey coat of soft and fuzzy hair. He loves to be brushed and petted and particularly enjoys belly rubs. Until he gets to know his person, he will be timid but once he realizes that he is in a safe place, he will enjoy snuggling. He can be “bribed” with toys and treats initially to help him feel more comfortable. He most likely will hide for the first few days in his new home so patience will be important as he adjusts. Even once he becomes comfortable, when visitors arrive, he will probably keep to himself.
Thunder has never shown even a tiny bit of aggression even when his family’s young toddler carries him around. While he has done fine with the toddler, it seems best that a home with only older children or adults will be the best for him as he has some anxious behavior that only occurred after the baby arrived. He never had any litterbox concerns prior to the baby’s arrival but has exhibited some stress spraying in the home since then. He can go for months at a time with no incidents so his family believes that in a lower stress environment of a quiet home, he should go back to his good litter box habits consistently. He is on a urinary diet that is helpful for him too.
He gets along with other cats in the home but it’s possible that a new cat in another home may be a stressor so it may be best if he is an only cat. He has never lived with dogs before so that is an unknown. He loves playing and his favorite toy is a wand toy. As a young cat, he will enjoy most any toy it seems.
Thunder does not mind being picked up and being carried around like a baby and getting kissed and snuggled. As a kitten he used to sleep with his human family members but with the baby’s arrival, he does not any longer but in a new home, he will probably enjoy sleeping with his person.
Thunder is one of the sweetest cats you will ever meet! Please give him a chance for a fresh start. All our adoptions start out as trials so if there are any concerns, he can be returned to us but we hope it will be a forever match in a less stressful home.
