Monty is living in a foster home in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.
Monty is about 10 years old and weighs around 8 pounds. In his current foster home, he lives with other dogs, adults and one child. It took him 1-2 days to settle into his foster home, but then he fit right in. He will show you his quirky and kind personality once he's comfortable.
Monty may be 10 years old but he still enjoys playing with dog toys and running around with the "zoomies." Monty also enjoys exploring the fenced yard, going for walks, going for car rides and taking naps. Check out his video!
Monty is great on car rides. Monty is completely housetrained at his foster home. He goes outside whenever the other dogs go outside. He knows what to do when his foster parents say "outside." Monty also knows his name and comes whenever he is called. He is very treat-motivated and wants to please.
Monty sleeps in bed with his foster parents at night. He loves to burrow under the covers to stay warm.
Monty is very mature and he has great house-manners.
Monty is leery of new visits in his foster home. He barks and acts very tough for the first 10-15 minutes. He just needs a few treats and a little bit of time before he settles down. Then he will let them into his circle of friends.
Monty would love to find an adopter that will be patient with him the first couple days as he settles in to a new home and patience to help him get used to new people. Then he will become your shadow!
Interested in adoption? The first step is an application at paddyspaws.blogspot.com. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Our rescue adopts to Wisconsin and Illinois. Our requirements for Illinois applications are: excellent vet history, no children under 7 in the home, and an owned home. Wisconsin does not have these requirements, though we will not consider applications where pets are missing core veterinary care.
Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once
approved a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $250.

Additional adoption info
Our adoption process works a bit different than other shelters and rescues and we don't have a facility because we are foster based. Like most foster-based organizations, we set up all appointments on an individual basis. Prior to any meet and greets, we require an approved application so we will need to go through all the steps before having you meet any of the available dogs here in Wisconsin. We cannot guarantee the availability of any dog until all application materials are submitted and approved (including homevisit and reference calls). With the nature of our rescue, there is no shortage of available dogs just like this one, so we do highly recommend that folks continue through the process so that we can help find you a match!
Applicants must be 21 or older and we do not make exceptions to this age requirement. All applicants should be residing in their permanent residence at time of application. If you are moving, we do ask that you wait to apply until you have completely moved into your new residence before completing an application. If you are renting, the name and number of your landlord must be provided (we cannot process without), and permission must be given to contact him or her. If permission is not given, we will not continue to process the application. We do not adopt dogs that are listed on the restricted breed list to any applicants who are renting.
We start with the completed application and then complete a background check to ensure the safety of our home visit representatives and our rescue pets. We invite applicants to share more about potential issues on your background check, but do want to note that we will not send a representative to a home where crimes of a violent nature have been committed. Next, we check vet records. Please do not apply if you have a dog or cat that is not altered, or is not up to date on vaccinations, unless there is a documented medical reason. We require a minimum of a rabies vaccination for cats or current wellness exam, and rabies and DHLPP for dogs in the home. Heartworm preventative and testing is also a high priority on our vet checks.
Please note:
Prior to completing an application, please contact your veterinarian to give permission for a release of records. Vet information must be provided for any and all pets who have been in your care in the last five years.
The next step is a homevisit with family and one of our representatives. Home visits can take several weeks to schedule due to volunteer availability and based on your location. Please note: we are 100% volunteer run and we are limited in the areas we can get to. Some locations can take an extended time to locate a representative. Representatives may call your references before or after the visit. We do not accept applications from other states, only applications from Wisconsin.

More about this rescue
Our primary goal is to find adoptive homes for these amazing animals that are located in shelters, rescues and foster homes. How does it work? You fill out a Paddy's Paws Application which will be submitted for approval for adoption to the Houston rescues.
Our adoption process works a bit different than other shelters and rescues! Paddy's Paws serves as a coordinator for Houston rescues. We send out the applications, arrange homevisits and secure back up fosters for each of the dogs that will be transported here. Like most foster-based organizations, we do not have a facility and set up all appointments on an individual basis. Prior to any meet and greets, we require an approved application so we will need to go through all the steps before having you meet any of the available dogs here in Wisconsin.
The application, reference checks and homevisit are considered part of the general approval process and we cannot guarantee that a specific dog will still be available when you complete the process, but doing so will get you access to our "match making" service where you will have bios and pictures of multiple dogs that may be exactly what you're looking for! And, of course, there's always the possibility that the dog that sparked your initial interest will still be available!

We start with the completed application and then check references/vet records. The next step is a homevisit with family and one of our representatives. Once we have gathered all this information, we provide it to the Houston team. Then, we can set up a meet and greet with available dogs.
