My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UF-OH no! How is Invader Zim still up for adoption? ‍
Zim is a total GOOF and the more jokes we make about him being alien creature more than dog the more we believe it. His walk is more of a forever happy dance the way he tippy taps and wiggles about, and he keeps his personality right in his ears - they just can’t decide whether they want to stay up or flop down and it changes throughout the day.
This sweet, snuggley boy came from a rough past. He was thrown over a shelter fence overnight covered in scabs and scarring, he even has a prominent scar around his whole neck, we can only guess from being tied up for long periods of time. He was literal skin and bones, weighing only 19lbs.
Fast forward to now, almost two months later and Zim is a healthy 34lbs! He has gone from shy and unsure of some things to having not a care in the planet! Zim has gone to events where he is the star of the show, being both equal measures of calm, playful, and charming to everyone he meets. This alien creature is the whole package. He is dog, cat and kid friendly. He is crate and house trained and knows basic commands. Zim is estimated two years old, but has the eternal look and temperament of a little puppy boy.
Zim wakes up in the morning and the first thing he does is find a toy, most times he has one in his mouth before he is out the door for his morning bathroom break. Zim LOVES toys, and a fresh toy box to nose around in and spread around the house is one of life’s greater gifts to Zim.
It’s a real toss up on whether Zim loves his toys or rough and tumbling with his dog friends more. When he isn’t looking for a toy he is jumping full body onto his foster sister, mostly he is doing both at the same time. He and his foster sister alternate between epic play battles and couch snoozes all throughout the day, and his ideal home would have a dog friend who wants to play as much as he does.
Just like the little baby alien creature he is, when he is all worn out he is the sleepiest, cutest little puppy, and he will snooze with his nose tucked right up in your neck.
Invader Zim says, “take me to your home!”
(really trying with the alien puns guys)

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

When you adopt a dog from Swamp Haven, you’re not just saving a life. You’re beginning a journey filled with love, loyalty and trust. Life can be busy and stressful. The companionship of a dog is a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things. At Swamp Haven, our mission isn’t to just help down-on-their-luck dogs find their forever homes. Our mission is to create a lasting relationship with you and your family.
Adopt happiness. Our adoption process is unique in that we work with you every step of the way to ensure that we’re placing the right dog with the right family. First, chat with us about what you’re looking for in a dog and we will set up a time for you to meet the lucky pup. From there, fill out an application. Once reviewed we set up a time to bring your potential pup to your house for a home visit and trial week. We want to make sure it’s the right fit for both your family and the dog involved. We will be totally available during the trial week for any questions or concerns. The last step is to finalize the adoption. And then congrats, you’re a new member of the Swamp Haven family and your happy tail has just begun!

Our adoption fee is $350

More about this rescue

Swamp Haven is an animal rescue organization that takes down-on-their-luck dogs and nurtures them back to a healthy mental and physical state, so they can find their forever home. Our goal is simple. We save innocent dogs that have been overlooked by society and provide short-term care including vetting (vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and heartworm and flea prevention) and training to learn how to walk politely on a leash, play in a pack and live calmly and lovingly in their new home.
