My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It is truly amazing what some time and love can do for a dog. Invader Zim is simply thriving. He would also not want you to forget lots and lots of food was necessary for this transformation. ❗️
Zim was a skeleton tossed over a shelters fence overnight. He had chunks of skin and fur scabbed and falling off, and he was very dehydrated on top of it. Now, in just about a month you can barely see his bones. He is even starting to get some muscles in his back legs.
Zim has been doing great in his foster home. He is learning he doesn’t have to dive head first into food, or anything he think MIGHT be food for that matter. He is learning to share toys, and just generally understand that he doesn’t have to hide things, or steal the cat food bowl (impressively stealthily) and tuck it away on the couch with him, these things will always be there for him from now on. He has even made a furry bestie he is obsessed with and she has taught him how to be a vocal boy (sorry not sorry future adopters ) and he is quickly growing into his goofy, weeble wobble alien boy self.
Zim has quirky dances when excited, and he sounds like a duck pitter pattering around the house with his big webbed feet. He has no spacial awareness - he runs into things - people, walls, dogs - he trips and falls, both over his own feet and off the couch when he is playing too hard and he bounces right back as if it never happened. He is a special creature.
Zim has a recheck today, where we will see how his bloodwork has improved since we got him, and very soon this alien boy will be up for adoption.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

When you adopt a dog from Swamp Haven, you’re not just saving a life. You’re beginning a journey filled with love, loyalty and trust. Life can be busy and stressful. The companionship of a dog is a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things. At Swamp Haven, our mission isn’t to just help down-on-their-luck dogs find their forever homes. Our mission is to create a lasting relationship with you and your family.
Adopt happiness. Our adoption process is unique in that we work with you every step of the way to ensure that we’re placing the right dog with the right family. First, chat with us about what you’re looking for in a dog and we will set up a time for you to meet the lucky pup. From there, fill out an application. Once reviewed we set up a time to bring your potential pup to your house for a home visit and trial week. We want to make sure it’s the right fit for both your family and the dog involved. We will be totally available during the trial week for any questions or concerns. The last step is to finalize the adoption. And then congrats, you’re a new member of the Swamp Haven family and your happy tail has just begun!

Our adoption fee is $350

More about this rescue

Swamp Haven is an animal rescue organization that takes down-on-their-luck dogs and nurtures them back to a healthy mental and physical state, so they can find their forever home. Our goal is simple. We save innocent dogs that have been overlooked by society and provide short-term care including vetting (vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and heartworm and flea prevention) and training to learn how to walk politely on a leash, play in a pack and live calmly and lovingly in their new home.
