My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update on Charlie from his foster:

Charlie is an amazing boy. He was only with us for five days but in those few days he became a relaxed, joyful part of our household. He learned all commands, including understanding that a gentle, “get out of the kitchen” meant he was to leave the room and sit on the back door carpet where he could watch the food prep but not partake-as he surely wanted to.

He’s simple and easy going and a very quick learner. He loves a walk (though could use some work on the leash-maybe a gentle leader?), time in the backyard, and a good long game of fetch.
He’ll sit for a treat and gently take it from your fingers. He rolls over for a tummy rub but his absolute favorite is a long rub under his throat. He will make a wonderful shadow, wanting to participate closely in whatever his humans are doing.

He loves other dogs and gets along well with cats. In fact, I think he’d like to be close friends with a cat. He’d be happy with another dog but at the very least will be so happy to have humans to call his own. He loves to be social. Ultimately, he is excellent. He will easily enfold into your life and you will be happy to have the chance to love him.

Looks like he’s ready to meet his new family!

**************************
Welcome Charlie Dean to the 1st Day of the BEST REST of your life!

Charlie Dean is a 5 year old, male, neutered Weimaraner that is coming to us from Dorchester Paws, near Charleston, SC! He is HW negative and up to date with all his vaccines!

Charlie is a sweet boy that just want's some lovin'! He seem to know his basic commands like "sit" and "come"... and if you check out the video, he even knows how to "shake"! And if that wasn't cool enough, he is ok with cats!

Charlie has a condition called, Hypotrichosis - which is similar to Alopecia. The main difference is the Alopecia is total absence of hair, while Hypotrichosis means that Charlie does have some hair on his body - but he'll still need a sweater when the weather cools off - which makes him the perfect model for your knitting or crochet hobby!

We will update you once he has settled into his foster home and has another check-up with our vet to make sure his skin is in top shape!

More about this rescue

The Atlanta Weimaraner Club Rescue (“AWCR”) is a group of Weimaraner enthusiasts and owners in the Atlanta area. The mission of the club is to provide Weimaraner owners with a place to meet folks that enjoy doing things with their Weimaraners. In addition to the social aspect of the club, the Atlanta Weimaraner Club Rescue provides for the rescue, care, and adoption of lost, surrendered and homeless Weimaraners.

The AWCR assists in re-homing Weimaraners by providing foster homes. The funds for the rescue program are raised through various fundraising events and donations. The Club also provides public education on the breed and responsible dog ownership.
