My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Xena came to Family Dog through a Portville area shelter. Sadly, she was overly bred, in horrible shape, and then street-dumped.

Under our care and through extensive medical care, her hair is growing back, she trusts people, and she loves to hang out with staff, play with toys, and nap.

We highly recommend that she be an ONLY dog because she can resource-guard her treats. We would love for her to find a loving home where the owner/s understands that she requires eye and thyroid medications for the rest of her life. This sweet gem is worth the effort!

Please visit our website and complete an adoption application for review. We are open by appointment only and look forward to meeting you.

Meet the Pet

Once your applicaton has been approved you will be invited to select a time to meet your potential pet.

We are looking for responsible, warm-hearted people to give our dogs the wonderful homes they deserve. Our adoption process is thorough but fast. We focus on making the best match between you and the right dog. To adopt, you will need to:

1. Complete the Adoption Application.
2. Meet the dog you want to adopt.
3. Show proof that you can have a dog in your home (lease, mortgage, letter from landlord).
4. Sign our Adoption Agreement and pay an Adoption Fee.

However we host regular adoption pop-ups at Pet Food Express Sonoma (Saturday's 11am-2pm) and on the first Sunday of the month can be found at Pet Food Express, 1975 Market Street, San Francisco.
