My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

First things first... it goes without saying that Mooch is a good-looking guy. He weighs in around 55 pounds as a full grown adult and with his short, curly dark gray and white coat appears to be a Labradoodle or potentially a different type of "Doodle" cross. But there is a lot more to know about this beautiful boy. who we think is full of potential once he finds the right person or family. You see, Mooch understands that everyone has their issues and we all (dogs included) are in search of people who love us and accept us for who we are without trying to change us. Although little is known about Mooch's life before he came to Saving Grace, it is clear he didn't have the easiest of paths. Many kind hearted hands have helped him find his way to rescue, and transitioning to a life surrounded by caring people and social dogs was clearly a new experience for him but also an adventure he has been willing to go on with us. He is learning to appreciate a world where meals are consistent, human touch can be okay (and sometimes even enjoyable), and other dogs can be friends. He has recently become more interested in engaging with our regular volunteers and enjoys the company of other friendly dogs.

Mooch's perfect person or family will have the patience and commitment to help him continue to become his best self. He is best suited to a low-key, adult-only home or a home with older kids who will understand his need for time and space as he adjusts to his new life. His ideal home will have a fenced-in yard, and he would definitely benefit from having another happy and confident canine friend who can teach him the routine of life in a house and most importantly what it's like to be adored by his people. Since he has never had someone to help him build usual skills such as leash-walking, he'll need someone willing to teach him with love and understanding. If you think that might be you, please make an appointment to meet Mooch today. Sometimes the projects you never thought about doing become those that bring the most satisfaction and joy.

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
