My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rover, a sweet and intelligent 2-year-old 67lb golden doodle with a heart full of love. Though he's eager for outdoor adventures and playing with his dog friends, he thrives on being close to his humans, Rover has had limited socialization and still needs to learn some new skills but he’s a young guy so we have to cut him some slack . With a little patience and guidance, Rover’s potential can truly shine—he’s a great student that has already learned so much in a short period of time. He is especially motivated when treats are involved.
Rover is sensitive to dark or unfamiliar spaces and can startle easily, so a calm and supportive environment is key to helping him feel secure. He doesn’t seem comfortable around unneutered male dogs, so his future home should keep that in mind. However, he gets along well with neutered dogs of all sizes and would flourish in a quiet household with fewer visitors, giving him time to adjust at his own pace.
A detached home with a fenced yard is ideal, allowing Rover the freedom to explore and play in a safe space. He loves his walks, especially when using a halti, and greets the world with enthusiasm, although he’s still learning to fully trust new people. Due to his sensitive nature, a family with older children (10+) would be a great match, and he could either be an only dog or have playful, well-matched dog companions.
Rover is fully potty trained and would love a family that enjoys outdoor activities like hiking. He does shed, so a home without allergies is preferred. Currently being fostered in Keswick, Ontario, Rover is looking for a family who can offer him love, patience, and the guidance he needs to reach his full potential. Could that be you?

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted, abandoned, abused and unloved pets that find themselves alone and frightened in shelters. These animals give unconditional love and should receive the same love back. Unfortunately there is a need and while ever there is a need we will be there to help. Our long term goal is to build towards the opening of our own shelter and be able to help with behavioral issues, special needs, and to offer a haven to less adoptable pets. We are always very thankful for any pet related donations to assist the animals in our care
