My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rover, a 2-year-old golden doodle who recently joined our rescue! This pup loves nothing more than being close to his people or hanging in the backyard stretched out on the grass.

Rover enjoys playing with toys and going for walks, but he’ll need a little work on his leash skills as he tends to pull. He has been doing well with a halti. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes, unsure about cats. Bonus, he seems to be fully potty trained.

Rover’s past has been full of change and instability so there is no shock to his foster family that he can feel scared and startle around new people if he is approached from a direction where he didn’t seem them coming near. He will let them know he is scared by barking and once they toss him a treat and sit next to him, it seems his fear is gone.

Rover is a very sweet and loving guy who would make a great addition to a family with older kids (10 and up). He would also make a terrific playful furbrother so if you have a dog that wants some company, Rover may be the dog for you.

Although a poodle mix, he does shed slightly so he would not be a fit for anyone who has allergies.

Rover is scheduled for neutering soon, and once he recovers with his foster family, he’ll be ready to find his forever home. We will start reviewing applications on September 25th, so keep an eye on his progress as we update his profile! River is currently being fostered in Keswick.

As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted, abandoned, abused and unloved pets that find themselves alone and frightened in shelters. These animals give unconditional love and should receive the same love back. Unfortunately there is a need and while ever there is a need we will be there to help. Our long term goal is to build towards the opening of our own shelter and be able to help with behavioral issues, special needs, and to offer a haven to less adoptable pets. We are always very thankful for any pet related donations to assist the animals in our care
