My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our handsome Haze is an exceptional, all around family dog, who loves everybody, and has not flinched at all during a rescue process that leaves lesser dogs rattled.

We've been trying to piece together Haze's backstory, and here's what we know for sure: He was found as a country stray by the Surrey County Animal Control Officers in North Carolina. An owner was located but refused to retrieve him.

Haze’s bum luck finally improved when our shelter contact transferred him to our care. Due to his stellar temperament and personality, Haze has become one of the superstars in our big dog playgroup. He loves all the dogs that he has met here!

Now, it is time for Haze to live a life of his own, one where the human-dog ratio is more reasonable. He is so full of life and personality. At two years of age, he is a young adult who still has a bit of the puppy Mojo going on. Haze is like a kid in a candy shop, soaking up new experiences with sheer glee. He is a super dog who would do well in any type of environment.

Haze appears to be a Catahoula Leopard dog, perhaps mixed with a smidge of Bluetick Coonhound. He lives up to the lovable reputations of both breeds. He is a large dog, at a lean weight of 45 pounds. His short, flat, tri-colored coat is black, with the unmistakable “leopard” spots, and a lot of ‘ticking.” Haze has a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, and he always looks like he's flashing a giant smile.

Haze is a very happy-go-lucky guy, and would be a great addition to an active family with older, dog savvy kids. He is friendly and will give everyone in the family equal attention. Haze is not one to play favorites, and he is very stranger friendly.

He could also join an active single or couple, who can provide at least one to two brisk leash walks daily, as well as focussed play time so that Haze can get the exercise that he needs to get his yayas out.

Haze has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He has been neutered, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings.

If you are interested in Haze, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Additional adoption info

When we receive your completed application we will check your references, including your veterinarian, and then call you to discuss your situation and requirements.. If you are approved for adoption, we can then discuss with you which of the dogs might fit best into your life. We will either arrange for you to visit the dog in its foster home, by appointment, or transport the dog to your home.

To help cover the veterinary expenses of our foster Eskies and to support our rescue effort, Eskies Online will charge you an adoption fee of $350.00. We do not sell dogs. We charge a flat fee--whether the Eskie is a puppy or an older dog; whether it came to us with minimal veterinary needs or requiring major medical care; whether the Eskie makes a short or a long stay in our foster system.

More about this rescue

Eskies Online is a 501(c)(3) Multibreed rescue group that serves unwanted American Eskimos and other dogs in need and finds qualified, permanent, adoptive homes for them. In the foster home environment, we are able to evaluate the dog's temperament and behavior patterns away from the stress of shelter life. Eskies Online is funded entirely through adoption fees, donations and the generosity our volunteers.
