My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marvel is ready to be your hero! Will you be his?

Hello! I’m Marvel, a 3.5-year-old, 68-pound Lab mix, and I’m ready to save the day with my super-sized heart and goofy charm. Like any great hero, I’ve got an origin story—rescued off the streets of TJ with my best buddy Captain. I was in ruff shape with a big puffy face and TVT, but thanks to the team at TAP, I’m 100% healthy now, no meds or special care needed. Currently on Purina Pro Plan Vet Diet HA food trial. You could say I’ve had my glow-up, and now I’m ready to be your loyal sidekick.

When it comes to other dogs, I’m like the Avengers—a team player! I’m friendly, playful, and even like to groom my doggie friends. I’m curious around cats and want play, so I could learn to live with them as I did in a temp foster's home. I did great with the TAP campers. I’m pretty easygoing, so I’d likely be good with older kids who can handle my playful pawsonality.

I’m a goofy, medium-energy boy who loves to play fetch, go for walks, and snuggle up for belly rubs and face scratches afterward. I don’t have any villain traits and I'm not aggressive at all. If another dog barks at me, I’ll just look to you for reassurance. I’m also crate-trained and house-trained, and I don’t have any separation anxiety. I might pull on the leash a bit from excitement, but hey, even superheroes need a little training!

Why am I the hero for you? Because I’m not just a dog—I’m truly a Marvel! I’ve overcome so much, but you’d never know it from my happy, loving nature. I’m adaptable, calm, and make the perfect adventure buddy or couch companion. Plus, I rarely bark, so I’d be great in a house or apartment. Whether you need a quiet WFH sidekick or a fellow adventurer, I’m your guy. So, what do you say? Ready to team up with Marvel and take on the world together? Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
