This helps Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue, Inc. with pet care costs.
Finn is a 7 month old, male Belgian Malinois, located in TN. Finn is a love bug, exceptional cuddler, and an equal opportunity lover. Finn has acclimated to his Foster home quite quickly and has bonded quite closely to the Foster’s dogs.
Finn has begun basic training and already knows the commands: sit, shake, lay down, and come. His overall drive is medium and he has a high prey-drive like most Belgian Malinois’. His Foster says that he has a great off switch and that he is motivated by food and praise. He enjoys pleasing people and he just wants to play, so his Foster makes training a game for him. In the home, Finn loves to meet new people and other dogs; however, outside the home he is wary of both strangers and dogs. He will need more socialization.
Finn is also mischievous. His favorite game is to drag the Foster’s Pomeranian around by the tip of his fuzzy tail until he loses his temper. And then when he hears the Foster’s gasp and his name, it makes him sit and if you scowl at him, he flops on the floor like a sullen teenager. He literally throws himself on the floor. He will also put himself in a timeout using his kennel when he’s naughty.
When he gets bored, he will chew, so his adopter will need to be someone that is attentive to him. He could be in a home with or without dogs; however, I think he would acclimate better if another dog is in the home since that is what he is used to. Also, having another dog in the home will help keep him occupied as well. Because of his high prey-drive, anything small that moves quickly like cats, small dogs, small children would be a hard no. Finn will be a big boy as he is already at 70 pounds. Finn deserves a handler that can cuddle and entertain him by keeping him exercised and mentally stimulated. #MADloveFinn-with Erica Hyre
