My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

East Richmond

Meet East, a sweet and charming cat with a big personality! East loves food and relaxation - you'll usually find him lounging around the house, and he'll quickly flop onto his back and start purring if you give him pets. While he is known to hiss at approaching humans (earning him the nickname "Hissy Elliott"), this just adds to his adorable charm since he is such a gentle soul – he's never once scratched or bitten anyone. In fact, we think that his hissing is more of a leftover instinct from his time on the streets than an indicator of aggression, since even after hissing he tends to be very receptive to pets. He loves to play with his brother South, and the two can entertain themselves for hours with cat tunnels and toys. East is easy to care for, independent, and will reward you with contented purrs. Due to his enthusiasm for meals, he prefers to dine separately from his brother. Adopt East, and you'll gain a low-maintenance companion with a heart as big as his appetite!

South Richmond

Introducing South, one of the sweetest kittens you'll ever meet! This little charmer will greet you with his signature high-pitched meows and follow you around for attention when he's in the mood for pets. Don't worry though – South is also independent and won't disturb your beauty sleep in the mornings. Like his brother, he's extremely food motivated and will serenade you with meows when it's mealtime. South is a playful spirit who loves chasing wand toys, and his gentle nature means he tolerates being picked up with ease. If you're looking for a kitten that's equal parts sweetness and fun, South is your purrfect match!

East and South are best friends and should be adopted together as forever playmates. These wonderful cats will be great companions with so much love to give. Adopt this dynamic duo and double your feline fun!

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
