My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I have been known to shower my favorite people in love!

I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles!

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.

My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: Key is a sweet and loving dog who thrives on calm, gentle activities and enjoys exploring the world around him. I recently took him to the park, and he was so happy to stroll through the grass/leaves, taking in the sights and smells, all while savoring some delicious treats. What's even more special about Key is his kind, non-aggressive nature! He didn't react to other dogs and remained calm when approached. When people took the time to approach him slowly, he gained confidence and showed his true social side, happily interacting with them. Key loves giving affectionate kisses and is always up for a car ride or a little playtime with his toys. He's a gentle, loving companion who would bring so much joy to any home. If you're looking for a calm, sweet dog to join your family, Key is ready to share all his love with you. Don't miss the chance to make him a part of your family! 🐶♥️

A volunteer writes: A surefire way to become a volunteer favorite is to have a cute, hairless, baboon butt. We don't make the rules, but we do execute on them. And so since Key's arrival a rotating team of volunteers has made sure that Key had fluffy bedding to rest his bones on. His fur has been growing back, thanks to ongoing treatment for allergies from our vet team, and his once skinny body is putting on pounds with a special diet. He remains a favorite as he gets healthier (you can't really lose that status).

Key is just 2 years old and lived with his former family since he was a puppy. That included kids between the ages of 4 and 11 who he was said to be friendly with. He was surrendered due to his medical concerns, and said to be friendly with people outside, but bark at them inside, and friendly with dogs he sees on walks. In his dog to dog greeting at the shelter he was wiggly and soft, politely sniffed and allowed himself to be sniffed, and then engaged in chase play, offered gentle bounces, and made minimal body contact with the female dog. His former family describes him as social, playful, and independent, and a lover of car rides.
